The Village of Glendale Heights wants to remind residents of the Thor Guard Lightning Alert System that we have in a number of our parks including the recently re-installed system at Nazos Park. When a threat is detected, you will hear one (1) long siren blast indicates conditions are right for lightning to form. It is advised at this time that all outdoor activities be stopped and participants move to a safe location. The sounded alert also includes flashing lights, which will continue to flash throughout the unsafe conditions. You will want to avoid open areas/isolated trees, overhead wires/power lines, water, elevated ground, metal, and wire fences. When the threat has diminished, Thor Guard will give an "All Clear" alert of three (3) short siren blasts and the lights will stop flashing. In order to conduct an "All Clear", there must be a MINIMUM of ten (10) minutes with no additional lightning charges detected. The Thor Guard Aler System has been installed at Glendale Lakes Golf Course, Glendale Heights Aquatic Center/Sports Hub, Camera Park, Nazos Park, Reskin Park.
